Ranking the 50 best network marketing companies of 2019

By admin on March 5, 2019

Love or hate them, network marketing companies continue their reign.

If you’re tired of the daily drudge of a normal 9-to-5… If you’re ready to build a business that puts you in control… If you like the idea of being part of something bigger than yourself…

You’ve probably felt the pull to join at least one MLM.

But with all the hype, it’s hard to separate the good from the bad…

Which is why we’ve done the hard work for you, reviewing the MLMs you’re most likely to hear about and giving you a consolidated list of the best network marketing companies of 2019.

Below, you’ll find the top 50 MLMs that fit 4 key requirements:

  1. It’s possible to make money at it, either now or in the future.
  2. It’s affordable to join.
  3. The company has a good reputation.
  4. They sell trending products with a strong market.

Let’s dive in!

#50. Peekaboo Beans

Peekaboo Beans

Founded by Traci Costa in 2006, Peakaboo Beans is now a publicly traded company (PBBSF) that’s primed for growth.

The concept is simple. Moms want to be able to dress their kids in ultra comfortable clothes that’s stylish and durable.

And Peakaboo Beans has got the solution.

Their clothes have no toxic chemicals or dyes. The designs mix and match easily, so looking “put together” is easier than ever. They’re also long-lasting and comfortable, so moms and kids both love them.

What we love about Peekaboo Beans is their positive public perception. Which means you’d have no trouble selling these products.

You’ll get anywhere from 5-15% commission on your sales. Not great. But keep in mind, happy customers will keep coming back for years. (Their sizes range from 3-6 months to 10!)

And Beekaboo Beans takes care of processing, fulfillment, shipping, and customer service, so you only have to worry about building your customer base.

#49. Origami Owl

origami owl

Origami Owl was founded in 2010 by 14-year-old Bella Weems so she could earn enough money to buy a car.

Needless to say, she didn’t stop there. Today, Origami Owl helps women of all ages realize their own unlimited potential.

What we like about Origami Owl is their focus on creating meaningful jewelry that tells your own story.

origami owl - one our our top MLMs
Choose your own design and charms for 100% personalized jewelry.

And the most recently reported numbers tell us it’s working: 62,000+ distributors are generating a revenue of $250 Million.

You can get started relatively inexpensively ($49 is the base starter kit), and you’ll earn 30-50% commissions on personal sales. Be aware, this isn’t the type of jewelry you hand down to your kids. It’s been known to break easily, so you may have some refunds.

That said, it’s trendy enough to make our list–and fun enough, you’ll likely enjoy building your business.

#48. Forever Living

Forever Living

This one’s a classic. Founded in 1978, Forever Living sells aloe vera-based products, as well as bee-derived products and essential oils.

Before being environmentally responsible was a thing, Forever Living was carrying the banner. Today, they’re growing 50 million aloe vera plants in their Dominican Republic and Texas plantations–each plant converting as much CO2 into oxygen as a tree.

Forever Living aloe fields
One of Forever Living’s aloe plantations

You can join this MLM for about $87. While you only get a 15% reseller’s discount, you do have 10 ways to earn. And among the eco-friendly, you’ve got a solid customer base.

We don’t think you’ll get rich selling Forever Living, but you can be proud of your products. The company has only had a few legal battles in its long history, and its products are likely to become more popular as the green movement matures.

#47. Pure Romance

Pure Romance

In the wake to the #metoo movement, women are feeling empowered to put themselves first. That’s why we see women’s intimacy products trending big time.

Of course, one of the top sources for bedroom accessories is going to be a well-established company that’s been recognized by Allure, Shape, and Elle, among others. Namely, Pure Romance.

They’ve been empowering, educating, and entertaining women since 1993–to the tune of $150 million in annual revenue.

Fair warning: You’ll need to come up with $219 to join. And you need to be serious about building your business, because you need to sell $200 of product every 2 calendar months to stay active. But you’ll get a 30-45% buying discount, plus other benefits, which means you’ve got a fair chance of making money with this MLM.

#46. SeneGence

A relative newcomer to the cosmetics industry, SeneGence has taken the world by storm.

Founder Joni Rogers-Kante wasn’t interested in doing what everyone else was doing, using the same ingredients in every product, regardless of what it was. She traveled the world, looking for unique ingredients that would protect against aging while staying put.

Today, their focus remains the same–making women feel beautiful without depleting the earth of natural resources or creating unnecessary waste.

Joining isn’t cheap. The application fee is $55, and you’ll need to buy a distributor pack that costs $75 to $1,195. But you’ll earn 20-50% product discounts and residual commission on 5 levels.

You probably won’t have any trouble selling this stuff either. It’s been featured in People, Ladies’ Home Journal, Marie Claire, Allure, Elle, and more.

#45. Stream

stream energy

Stream sells energy, wireless, protective, and connected life services. And with 177,930 distributors, it’s a solid opportunity.

This MLM meets our criteria for a respected company with in-demand products. Where it falls short is in its ability to make you much money.

It costs $199 to join, and you’ll pay $24.95 a month to access their marketing materials. You’ll only earn $0.50 to $3 a month for each customer, which means you need a lot of customers just to break even.

To top it all off, the average take-home pay is just $174 a year. But the bonuses may be worth it. You can shave up to 100% off your energy bill and $65 off your wireless bill.

stream energy incentives

#44. Xyngular

Xyngular

An Inc. 5000 company, Xyngular has been recognized among the Inc. Best Workplaces in 2017 and 2018. They’ve also been selected as a Utah Business Best Companies to work in 2017.

They’ve had a few legal issues recently, but they seem committed to help people lose weight, boost energy, and transform their health.

Honestly, most people join Xyngular just to use their products. What that means, though, is you won’t have to compete with a lot of other Xyngular distributors for customers and recruits.

Be aware, you’ll need to build your business to make good money. It’s not until you’re at the Distributor level that you earn an average of $3,876 a month.

#45. Immunotec

Immunotec

Scientifically-based wellness is the focus of Immunotec, making it a good pick among MLMs. Every flu season, people are looking for ways to boost their immunities–and Immunotec has the clinical studies to prove their products work.

Want more proof? Their flagship product is listed in the Physician’s Desk Reference, the drug reference book used by doctors, nurses, and pharmacies.

It’s not cheap to join, at $175. But you’ll earn 30% discount and have 7 ways to earn. With their science backing and trendy health products, we think Immunotec has what it takes to stand out.

immunotec shakes
Easy-to-prepare shakes are trending.

#42. ARIIX

Boasting 249% growth the past 3 years, with 6 consecutive record-breaking years, ARIIX may be right in calling themselves “The Opportunity Company.”

ARIIX is unique because it isn’t just one brand. It’s a collection of brands–nutrition, weight loss, beauty, and more. That gives you lots of options to buil a business that work for you.

Be prepared to put in the time, though. It costs $150 annually, and you need to earn 75 PV every 4 weeks to remain eligible for commissions. That said, they’ve got a 7-generational structure that gives you plenty of ways to earn.

#41. CUTCO

cutco knives

For an old-fashioned demo-style MLM, turn to CUTCO. They sell kitchen knife sets that are backed by a Forever Guarantee.

While we don’t love the idea of door-to-door sales, we do like that CUTCO will let you get started with NO money down. They’ll even loan you the sample knife set for your demonstrations.

You can also get paid even if your prospect doesn’t buy. CUTCO pays $17.25 per appointment with a qualified customer and 10% on sales.

They tend to target college students when recruiting distributors, so they don’t have the best reputation among MLMs. But if you fancy yourself a Billy Mays-style demo guy, you could enjoy showing off knives that cut through just about anything.

#40. Family Heritage Life

Family Heritage Life

Family Heritage Life has been selling life insurance, supplemental health insurance, cancer insurance, and heart hospital indemnity since 1989.

In recent years, they’ve been recognized repeatedly for their customer service, bringing home a gold, silver, or bronze Stevie Award in 2014 and 2016. They were also the NEO Success Award Winner in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.

What we like about this MLM is the compensation. You can earn 30-70% of the premium amount on every sale you make. And they seem to provide good support for their people.

What we don’t like is the lack of information about being a Family Heritage Life distributor. Still, there’s enough good to make it worth looking into.

#39. Monat

Monat is unique among beauty MLMs, because it’s all about hair. Founded by the Urdaneta family, this brand is run on family values.

It’s relatively affordable to join–just $99, with a $19.95 renewal fee each year.

The products are popular–and likely to get more popular. A report by Research and Markets forecasts the hair care market will grow 3.35% over the next 4 years.

Be aware, Monat has a Better Business Bureau rating of D. In early 2018, they got hit with 9 lawsuits related to misleading marketing and (of course) a pyramid-scheme accusation. We think they’ve got what it takes toovercome these challenges, but time will tell.

In the meantime, focus on the 40% commission you can earn while helping people look fabulous.

#38. Nu Skin

nu skin

Founded in 1984, Nu Skin aims for “all of the good, none of the bad.” When their first product sold out within a matter of hours, they knew they’d hit the mark.

Nu Skin isn’t your ordinary wellness or beauty MLM. They’ve developed an ageLOC platform that targets aging at its source, slowing the process of aging so you can feel, look, and live younger.

With Nu Skin, you’ll sell supplements, skin care, hair cair, body care, oral care, essential oils, and cosmetics. All of these products are trending now, and with such a well-established brand behind you, you’ve got good odds for success.

Commissions on personal sales are 25%. Not too bad. And joining will only set you back $100.

#37. 4LifeResearch

When 4Life was founded in 1998, revenue was a whopping $254. Today, it tops $300 million. They’ve done that by pursuing one goal, to share Transfer Factor, their core ingredient, with the world.

4Life sells supplements that support immune system health, body transformation, and general wellness. With wellness and scientifically based products being so popular, this is a good option among wellness MLMs.

It costs just $25 to join, and you can earn retail profits and 25% cash back on customer orders.

#36. LegalShield

In 1969, Harland Stonecipher needed legal help for an accident that wasn’t his fault–and he was shocked at how much it cost for the most basic services. That’s when he realized accessible, affordable legal help should be available to everyone.

Legal Shield was born out of that experience. Now, it offers legal services and identity theft protection in two simple plans: a personal plan and a small business plan.

You can earn $60 to $182 per annual membership you sell. Be aware, refunds may come out of your pocket, since you earn your commission before the year is out. But if you take care of your customers, that shouldn’t be a problem.

And you won’t have to jump through any hoops to join. Just $99 plus applicable state licensing fees.

#35. AdvoCare

Charles Ragus started AdvoCare to be the health and wellness advocate who actually cared. They offer science-backed nutritional, weight-management, and sports-performance products.

Their goal? To be a “difference maker.”

Honestly, it’s unlikely to make a huge difference in your finances. The average distributor makes just $1,402/year.

But they’ve kept the enrollment fee down. You’ll pay $59 to join, with an annual renewal fee of $50. They also offer a DebtBuster program to help distributors pay off their debts.

#34. Plexus

Plexus has doubled down on some of today’s most popular products: weight-management, nutrition, skin care, and personal care. And in the process, they’ve built a strong community of fans.

On their blog, the “health and happiness place,” you’ll find yummy recipes, weight-loss testimonials, and success stories. How’s that for social proof?

Their products are definitely nailing the today’s hottest health trends. They’re 100% vegetarian, non-GMO, and gluten-free. Their flagship products don’t have caffeine. And they’re safe for diabetics.

plexus Slim

The only thing we don’t love is the cost of joining. Your Welcome Pack will set you back $99 or $199. You’ll pay an annual membership fee of $34.95. And you have to maintain 100 PV a month to earn points, bonuses, and commissions.

Still, if wellness is your thing, Plexus is a strong contender.

#33. Ambit Energy

Ambit energy

On their headquarter walls are the words, “Never sacrifice integrity for growth.” The exact words you want to hear your MLM say.

Ambit has done their best to achieve both integrity and growth. Rather than modeling themselves after every other energy company, they’ve thought of themselves as a data company, reinventing the utilities game.

That’s precisely why we’ve added them to this list. The most successful companies are embracing digital transformation, becoming digital native no matter what they sell. That’s set them apart enough to be recognized by SMU’s Cox School of Business and Inc. 500.

Getting started won’t set you back too much. It’s $75 to get started and $24.95 monthly for your website. Just two or three customers should pay for that, and you’ll keep earning residual revenue from every customer.

#32. Tupperware

Tupperware

Tupperware used to be one of the top MLMs, but as a publicly traded company, they’re still going strong.

Fortunately, Tupperware understands the plastic-phobia that’s gripped the world. They’re updating their brand as well as their products. Back in 2010, they removed BPA from their products, and they continue to review new materials to improve their products and meet customers’ demands.

Joining is easy. The $99 registration fee can be paid in full or in two payments. You’ll get 35% commission on personal sales–and probably have the best organized kitchen on your block.

#31. Southwestern Advantage

Southwestern Advantage

This is one of those MLMs that gets mixed reviews. Southwestern Advantage works with students during their summer break to sell educational products door to door.

Sleazy, right?

Not so fast…

While that sounds like a beat-down, there’s no investment required. Parents must endorse a student before they’ll be accepted into the program, and every students gets 5 days of training at company headquarters.

Think of this as boot camp for adulthood. 30% of students won’t finish their first summer–but 40% of those who do return for a 2nd season and 50-60% complete a 3rd selling season.

That’s probably because the money is so good. Five-year participants have earned as much as $137,522. And that’s just one perk of participating. You walk away with true grit.

Graduates include Texas governor Rick Perry, Tennessee US Representative Marsha Blackburn, and author Martin Fridson.

#30. Seacret

Seacret

Seacret skincare products using minerals from the Dead Sea that deliver immediate results. Founded in 2011, they were originally sold from kiosks in malls. Today, they’re a successful MLM generating $200 million in revenue.

We love the uniqueness of Seacret’s products. They produce a Wow factor within 5 seconds, making them easy to sell. They’re affordable to join–$49 registration with an annual $49 renewal fee. You do need to sell 200 PV each week and 4 active customers to be active, but you’ll earn 30% commission on personal sales.

Seacret minerals from the Dead Sea

#29. Thirty-One Gifts

Thirty-One Gifts got its start in Founder Cindy Monroe’s basement. Selling personalized handbags, totes, duffle bags, lunch bags, and other carryalls, their true mission is encouraging and rewarding women.

Part of their explosive growth–and the element that makes their business so trendy–is the personalization they offer. Each bag is a blank canvas, so to speak. Customers can create their own unique design to express their personality.

Joining isn’t cheap. Enrollment sets you back $99 or $179, and you’ll pay $14.95 a month for your website and marketing. Commissions are okay but not great–just 25% on personal sales.

Still, this is a solid company with a fun product and a good reputation. If bags are your thing, this is a good option.

#28. Beachbody

We like Beachbody for the energy and excitement that’s baked into the brand.

Their 80-Day Obsession and their bold aim to give you the abs and booty you’ve always wanted…

Who can resist that?

Beachbody 80-Day Obsession

Which is probably why they’ve seen such impressive growth. Founded in 2007, they have 406,000 distributors bringing in $863 million in revenue.

It makes sense, though. Everyone is trying to get stronger and healthier, and they aim to give you everything you need to get fit. Your challenge will be avoiding giving health and fitness advice you aren’t “qualified” to give. From where we sit, though, that’s just a matter of learning how to tell success stories to encourage and motivate your customers.

#27. Melaleuca

Melaleuca

Melaleuca calls themselves the “largest online wellness shopping club,” selling nutrition, personal care, home cleaning, and cosmetics products that are supposed to be safer and more cost-effective than grocery store brands.

We particularly like how affordable it is to join this MLM: just $19 a year. You do need to maintain a monthly PV to get commissions and discounts, but you’ll easily meet that just buying your own supplements and household items.

melaleuca - wellness shopping club

The trick will be building a downline. With so many companies selling natural, green, and science-backed products, you need to push the lifestyle more than the products. That’s a shame, too, because their products are good.

Be aware, you’re not likely to get rich with Melaleuca. You’ll earn just 7% of customer and recruit monthly spend. Average annual income of directors is just $2,047. But you’ll never be ashamed to recommend these products.

#26. Princess House

If you’ve never heard of Princess House, think Pampered Chef over cafecitos. They sell cookware and home decor focused on health and beauty.

Interestingly, their primary market is Hispanics. And they’re clearly hitting the mark. They’ve enjoyed 7 consecutive years of growth and are now boasting a 35% sales increase. Management is also proactive abbout creating tools and training to help distributors sell more (like videos teaching you how to do a cafecito!).

Commissions are 25-35%, and the products actually sell. Their brand promise is My Vida Sana™, which is their way of simplifying healthy living through expert advice, recipes, and beautiful products.

It’s going to cost you to join–$199 for your Share + Earn Kit. But they let you get started with just $75 down.

#25. Pampered Chef

Pampered Chef

The better known cooking MLM is Pampered Chef, where kitchen gadgets and cooking tools have almost a cult following.

This MLM is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, the 4th largest public company in the world, making it stable and trustworthy. And you’ve got a lot of brand equity behind you when you ask someone to host a party. If they haven’t heard of Pampered Chef, they’ve been living under a rock.

Be aware, getting started isn’t cheap. Starter kits range from $109 to $249. But you can host a party and earn $25-50 toward the kit, knocking the price down to around $50.

Starting out, you’ll earn 20-25% commission on personal sales. Once you build a team, though, your commissions will jump to 31%.

Pampered Chef has a few timeless products, but they continually update their product line.

One of the things we like about Pampered Chef is their ability to keep up with the times. Their product line today isn’t the same as it was 15 or 20 years ago. That’s going to help you keep your customers happy for years to come.

#24. Zurvita

Zurvita

Zurvita sells products that build focus, energy, and wellness from the inside out. Founded in 2008, it’s now a publicly traded company selling in 8 countries.

Selling nutritional and health products is nothing new. But Zurvita has made excellence on of their foundational pillars–and it shows. They’re listed among the Inc. 5000 and the Inc. Best Workplaces.

It costs just $35 to enroll, but the Starter Pak will set you back at least $274.95. You’ll earn 20% of your personal sales and 20% of monthly downline sales.

If you decide to join Zurvita, plan on building your downline asap. It’s the only way to boost your earnings beyond the average, which is a low, low $11 a month.

#23. Isagenix

Isagenix

We like Isagenix’ mandate of “no compromises.” And that it’s more than just words. In fact, they’re considered one of the most trusted health MLMs.

They’ve sold health and nutrition supplements for weight control, performance, vitality, and well-being, as well as personal care and beauty products since 2002.

It’s easy to join Isagenix. Pay your annual membership fee of $39 ($29 if you join autoship), and place your first order with 25% off retail. As with most MLMs, you can earn in multiple ways. But you’ll start with 30-100% commissions on retail sales.

#22. Mary Kay

Mary Kay

For name recognition, good products, great commissions, and the very real possibility of earning a pink Cadillac, we like Mary Kay. But you can’t be a slacker with this MLM.

It costs $100 to join and $30 to enroll in their website program. Then, to stay active, you need to sell at least $200 in product every 3 months.

And that’s the rub.

Because Mary Kay is so well-established, most of the people who would make good customers are already a customer of some distributor somewhere.

For a high-powered, hot-pink experience, Mary Kay is the MLM to try.

So, sure, you’ll earn a 50% commission rate, but good luck finding customers and building a downline. You’re going to need to talk make-up and skincare with anyone who will listen to find customers and start making sales.

#21. Arbonne

Arbonne

Arbonne is a newer cosmetics MLM, having got its start in 1980. They sell botanically based beauty, personal care, and nutrition products, including skincare, makeup, bath and body, hair, sun, and nutrition.

All of their products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. They’re also free of parabens, benzene, petrolatum, formaldehyde, and other harmful preservatives.

Arbonne purity commitment

This commitment to “clean” places them among the 5 most popular skincare and cosmetics companies, according to a Bustle study. Right up there with Burt’s Bees, Sephora, Urban Decay, and yes, competing MLM, Mary Kay.

It also puts them squarely in the middle of some hot consumer trends. Hair care is a big one, as is a commitment to earth-friendly, chemical-free products.

Of course, this all comes at a price. Arbonne products are unapologetically expensive. So while it only costs $49 to join, your starter kit will set you back anywhere from $296 to $528.

#20. Herbalife

Herbalife

Herbalife is all about nutrition. In particular, they’re trying to provide the products that can solve the worldwide problems of poor nutrition, obesity, aging, rising healthcare costs, and poor fitness.

We like that they don’t just say they care. They demonstrate their commitment to better health by sponsoring more than 130 world-class athletes, over 60 professional teams and leagues, and 5 National Olympic Committees.

Herbalife is a publicly traded company, and they’ve been listed among Forbes’ 2017 Best Midsize Employers in America.

To join, you’ll just need to buy one of two start packs, both around $100.

#19. Avon

Avon

When I think of Avon, I think of overly made-up women knocking on doors, catalog in hand. But Avon’s come a long way since the old “Avon calling” jingle.

Based in the UK, there’s still a big market for Avon products in the US. And they’re so affordable, they’re easy to sell. Just leave the catalog on the corner of your desk at work, and you’ll likely get some sales.

Joining is affordable at $25 plus the $25-100 you’ll pay for your starter kit. And you’ll earn 20-50% commission on personal sales.

Not bad for a company that got its start in 1886 and could easily be stuck in a 20th century rut.

Avon distributors
Avon keeps up with the trends while keeping their prices low.

#18. Young Living

Young Living

Young Living is the original essential oils company. Founded in 1993 by Gary Young, they believe that true wellness is achieved through the transformative power of nature.

Alternative health is a growing trend, which gives Young Living an edge over many other health and wellness MLMs.

It costs $45 to $260 to get started. Commissions range from 4-8%. At that rate, it could take a while to reimburse you for your start-up costs.

#17. Amway

Amway

Everyone’s heard of Amway. Unfortunately, not all of the chatter is good. But when you mention MLMs, this is the one people think of first.

There’s a reason for that.

They’re the company that set the standard for all MLMs. Back in 1975 and again in 1994, the FTC tried to take them down–and lost. Today, the rules that protect MLMs are called the “Amway safeguards,” because Amway fought and won those battles.

Here’s what we like about Amway…

Start-up costs are lower than average–just $62 to register, with an optional $99.99 starter kit. There’s a strong sense of community here. When you join, you’ll feel like you’re part of a big, extended family. And retention rates are really good at 40%.

Now, because Amway is so well-established, you may struggle to find recruits, and that’s going to limit your growth. But you can still build a viable business by using the products yourself and getting some regular customers. Amway’s product line is so extensive, you can sell cosmetics, nutritional supplements, household goods, or anything else you happen to like.

#16. Le-vel

Le-vel

Le-vel is the first cloud-based direct selling company. Founded in 2012, it’s not dragging itself into the 21st century. It was set up to work in a digital, social world.

That’s a plus for you. It’s going to be easy to get your business going because this MLM is structured for online sales, and it’s not so over-saturated that you’ll struggle to find customers.

Le-vel sells nutritional supplements for weight loss, energy, clarity, and performance. I’ve seen distributors go from looking tired to terrific in a few short years of working with Le-vel. In other words, it works.

The Thrive Experience
Le-vel created the Thrive experience to give users peak health.

Your starter kit will cost $135-499, and you’ll need to set up a $50 monthly order. You’ll earn 20% commission on personal sales–so you can probably get a good stream of income going with this MLM.

#15. LifeVantage

LifeVantage

Talk about trending. This MLM captures all the trends: hot hair products, biohacking health, science-backed products, anti-aging, and more.

LifeVantage sells health stacks, nutritionals, beauty, fitness, and pet products. All of them are designed to heal and protect your body on a cellular level–so you’ll live longer and better.

Those aren’t idle claims either. Their products are tested in peer-reviewed studies, and in one study, their products reduced oxidative stress in humans by 40% in 30 days.

We like the reputation LifeVantage has for paying distributors on time. We’re also impressed with the strong upward trend their stock prices are experiencing.

LifeVantage stock prices trending up.

#14. Nature’s Sunshine

Nature's Sunshine

Health and wellness is a booming industry, and Nature’s Sunshine has become a global force for health in 26 countries.

Their products are recommended by health practitioners around the world for everything from daily essentials to weight management. With an emphasis on natural healing and science, they still manage to keep their prices down, which means anyone can afford to use their products.

There’s a lot to like about this company. They give full disclosure on what it takes to work with them–which is rarer than you might think. And they’ve got a good reputation in the industry.

You can join for just $40, and you’ll get 33% off retail prices. Commissions and bonuses are relatively generous, which is probably why 80% of distributors are able to remain active.

#13. Jeunesse

Jeunesse

Jeunesse is in a growth spurt, with growth in their top 3 markets averaging more than 60%. They’ve been named to the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies 5 years running, and in 2018, they were listed among Inc. magazines inaugural Private Titans. (That’s just one of 139 corporate awards they got in 2018.)

The company got its start in 2009 when Randy Ray and Wendy Lewis emerged from retirement with a unique youth-enhancement system (Y.E.S.) and one of the most rewarding compensation plans in the direct selling industry.

You can join for just $49.95. Product packages are optional. Be aware, though, you have to purchase $85 a month to maintain membership.

#12. Yoli

Yoli

They call this the Better Body System. That’s probably because they have a complete set of products for optimal health–including weight loss, pH balance, immune support, nutrition, sports performance, and energy.

They’ve also created T-Kits (short for transformation kits) that help you hit your goals in 28 days. And these products are free of preservatives, sweeteners, and artificial colors, so you can attract even the most finicky customers.

What we like about Yoli is the simplicity of everything they do. They’re not trying to complicate your life–just help you achieve a healthy life and a healthy income.

As a member, you’ll save up to 30%. The website doesn’t give a lot of information about joining, but you’ll probably need to fork over $59.98-239.92 to get set up.

#11. Primerica

Primerica

Primerica sells insurance and financial services, including financial needs analysis, term life, investments, auto and home insurance, long-term care insurance, pre-paid legal, and identity theft protection.

You’ll need to go through more training than with other MLMs, but in such a highly regulated industry, that’s a good thing. You need to understand what you’re selling and how to stay compliant.

That said, you can join for $99 plus a $25 monthly subscription fee. You’ll start out earning a 25% on all financial services sold–and as you advance, you’ll earn up to 70%.

Primerica has a good reputation among insurance companies.

Everyone needs insurance, so you’ll have no trouble finding customers. Take care of them, and you’ll likely keep them long-term, which means you can probably make good money with this MLM.

#10. Kannaway

Kannaway

One of the newest health trends that’s gaining a lot of steam is CBD and medical marijuana. Kannaway is at the forefront of this trend, making it one of our top picks among MLMs.

We love that they’re not just selling products. They’re spreading awareness on the health benefits of CBD through the Kannaway Sports division. Spokespeople include former NFL placekicker Mike Hollis and NFL veteran Bryan Barker.

CBD is the newest trend in wellness.

To join, you’ll pay $54.98 plus a product pack ($249 to $1,849). Expensive, yes, but this is a new industry. With Kannaway’s good reputation, we think they’re a good bet for getting in early.

#9. Well Beyond

Well Beyond

Another new trend is healthy chocolate, and Well Beyond is jumping on this one. With a range of chocolate products that help you lose weight and build health, this is a strong contender.

Be aware, this is a brand new MLM. All the details of how it works may not be ironed out. That said, you can join for $39 and earn 50% compensation.

Oh, and did I mention this is good chocolate? None of the Easter Bunny junk or checkout-line candy bars you get at the grocery store. This is premium chocolate that’s supposed to be good even for diabetics.

Try the Fearless 28-Day Success System to lose weight, balance your gut, and boost your energy. You’ll love every bite. And so will your customers!

With Well Beyond, you can get in on the ground floor with a product that practically sells itself.

#8. Optavia

Optavia

In the words of one of Optavia’s health coaches, “This company has <3.”

With Optavia, you’re not a distributor. You’re a coach, working closely with your customers to help them reach their goals. This isn’t a seller/buyer relationship. It’s a mentor/apprentice model.

And one coach says she makes six figures doing just that.

To join, you’ll buy a $199 Business Kit. There’s no rank or advancements you’ll need to worry about. Your pay is based on the current month’s performance. So you’re directly compensated for helping people get healthy.

#7. Usborn Books

Usborne Books & More

Parents and teachers alike love Usborn books. They’re the gold standard in children’s books: beautiful, entertaining, and educational.

Usborne Books & More is a division of Educational Development Corporation. It’s been recognized twice by Forbes Magazine as one of The 200 Best Small Companies in America and three times as one of America’s 100 Fastest Growing Small Companies.

We like the numbers on this MLM. To join, you’ll buy a consultant kit for $75 or $125. Then you’ll earn 25-30% on personal sales. Want to sell in book fairs? Buy the educational consultant kit, and you’ll bring in an additional 17-25% on school and library sales.

Usborne Books make readers
Every child loves Usborne Books.

#6. Youngevity

Youngevity

Youngevity stays on top of the trends by acquiring top brands in hot industries, such as wellness, beauty, services, essential oils, and now CBD.

As a distributor, you can pick and choose the products you want to sell, so you can build a business that works for you–not the other way around.

This is a well-regarded company with some big-name brand ambassadors, including Marilu Henner, Mike Glenn, Drew Pearson, Lisa Bearnson, and Theo Ratliff.

You can get started for just $30, and you’ll earn 30% on retail sales.

#5. Scentsy

From scented candles to scented soaps, everyone loves sweet smells–and with Scentsy’s candle warmers, you can enjoy those scents with no fire hazards and no excess carbon monoxide in your home.

We love the creativity behind this brand, the quality of their products, and how well they treat distributors.

Scentsy won 7 awards from the Indigo Design Award Competition in 2018. They also made the DSA Top 20 and Forbes’ Midsize Employers list, among other top awards.

Scentsy’s starter kit

You can join for just $99. That gets you everything you need to get started, including a warmer, 80+ scent testers, and a personal website free for 3 months. Your commissions will range from 20-25%.

#4. Rodan + Fields

Rodan + Fields

Rodan + Field was started in 2008 by two dermatologists who wanted to create an alternative to professional skincare that truly worked.

They’ve got the accolades to prove it does…

In 2017 alone, they won the USC Marshall School of Business Entrepreneur of the Year, Allure Best of Beauty Awards for their Soothe Gentle Cream Wash, Essence Best of Black Beauty Awards for their Enhancements Active Hydration Serum, and Total Beauty Beauty Awards for their Essentials Foaming Sunless Tan.

And the numbers add up…

Joining costs only $45 (the business kits are optional). Your commission rate is 25% of personal sales.

Rodan + Field has the tools to help you win customers.

Since this is a consumable (and one of the best skincare lines available), we think you’ve got a good chance to make good money.

#3. Juice Plus

Juice Plus

Juice Plus isn’t your ordinary health and wellness MLM. They’ve got a line-up of products that help you meet your daily quota of leafy greens and fruits–even if your a meat and potato kind of person.

Their products are recommended by healthcare professionals to improve health and prevent disease. Moms love how easy it is to get their kids to eat right. And on-the-go professionals love that they can take care of their heath without having to make dramatic lifestyle changes.

With Juice Plus, it’s easy to get your daily quotas of fruits and vegetables.

We like them because they’re ethical and honest. We’ve seen no lawsuits involving Juice Plus. And we appreciate that they only promise a part-time income.

They’re also affordable to join–just $50.

#2. Mannatech

Mannatech

Speaking of ethical, Mannatech is one of the most compliant companies in network marketing. Back in 2007, after the Texas Attorney General alleged they made dubious claims about their health benefits, they made it a point to avoid promising anything they can’t deliver.

They have 4 primary product lines: integrative health, targeted health, weight + fitness, and skincare. All are high quality and proven to work.

Mannatech hit several hot trends: science-backed health and wellness, beauty, and weight-loss.

The Mannatech distributors I’ve known have loved this company and its products. They pay just $49.99 a year to be a distributor, and they earn 5-15% on customer volume.

Here’s something unique. With most MLMs, you’ll do well to earn $500 a year as a distributor with no downline. In 2016, the average non-leadership associate in Mannatech earned $1,053.31.

#1. DoTerra

DoTerra

Our pick for the best MLM is DoTerra. Their line-up of essential oils, and wellness and beauty products are top quality and downright addictive.

Distributors don’t just sell them, they preach the benefits of using essential oils for every malady–from headaches to hospital stays. And with a retention rate of 68%, you know they’re doing something right. The direct selling average is 10%.

It costs just $35 to join without an enrollment kit. (A kit costs $150 to $2,750, and the membership fee is waived.)

And you have a decent chance of making money as a DoTerra distributor. You’ll get a 25% commission on personal sales–not bad. And recruiting a downline is relatively easy. (Users typically become believers, and the low cost of membership makes it easy.)

Nearly a fourth of distributors (at the Builder level) can earn $4,370 to $11,260 a year. Not bad, as MLMs go.

Summing It Up

As you can see, it’s hard to find an MLM that meets all 4 of our criteria:

  1. It’s possible to make money at it, either now or in the future.
  2. It’s affordable to join.
  3. The company has a good reputation.
  4. They sell trending products with a strong market.

We’ve studied them, reviewed their compensation packages, and read the reviews. The best of the best are listed above.

But don’t take our word for it. Do your due diligence and and make sure you understand any business opportunity before you get involved.

We know MLMs, and these are the Top 50 by our estimation. But even so, we’d hesitate to join some of them.

The barrier to entry is too high…

The company doesn’t have a good enough reputation…

The products aren’t good enough or aren’t a good fit for us…

You get the idea.

Just because someone else got rich doing something doesn’t mean you will too. And with MLMs, that’s especially true.

But we’re not haters. We’re entrepreneurs at heart and love a smart opportunity.

So tell us…
